Populism, polarisation, digital disinformation – what does this mean for our local democratic culture? What are common fears and where do they come from? What social tensions are emerging, where are they leading to conflict and what are the reasons for this? What challenges are faced by associations and committed people who are committed to diversity in society?
At the Citizens’ Dialogue, academics and practitioners will enter into dialogue with you. Discuss current challenges with our experts – and how we can strengthen democracy in everyday life.
Four experts on the topics of racism research, conflict research, political education and intercultural child and youth welfare will be on the panel: Ines Dohrs from IFAK e.V.; Dr. Dilek Tepeli, research assistant at Ruhr-Universität Bochum (RUB) with her project “Netzwerk Lokale Konflikte und Emotionen in Urbanen Räumen”; Moritz Wullenkord, research assistant at the Chair of Social Theory and Social Psychology at RUB; and Prof Dr Karim Fereidooni, Professor of Didactics of Social Science Education at RUB.
After a thematic introduction by the experts, moderated by Janina Amrath, the round will be opened up for dialogue with the audience. Here, questions can be asked and opinions exchanged – we would like to engage in a joint discourse.
Registration is not necessary, the event is open to all interested parties.
A joint event organised by UniverCity Bochum e.V. and the city library on the way to the House of Knowledge
