Autumn School 2025
Spaces of collective care – designing Safer Spaces
People need safe places to socialise, regenerate and recharge their batteries together. Safer spaces are a conscious attempt to create such safe spaces, but they are not the only option. Over the course of four days, Autumn School participants will learn how safe spaces can be designed, lived and sustainably anchored. They will gain theoretical knowledge and reflect on their own contexts in order to develop suitable options for action for their groups.

The Autumn School takes place in two workshop blocks on 26.09./27.09. and 10.10./11.01.
People need places where they can feel safe – to exchange ideas, regenerate, be there for each other and recharge their batteries together. Especially today, this need is more relevant than ever. However, not every room that appears safe at first glance is safe for every person. Safer Spaces are a deliberate attempt to create safe spaces – but not the only option.
For this reason we UniverCity Bochum e.V., the vhs Bochum and the Bahnhof Langendreer invite you to our Autumn School “Spaces of collective care – designing safer spaces”. Over four days, we will address the question of how safe spaces can be designed, lived and sustainably anchored.
The Autumn School is aimed at active people in the university context, in political education, civil society or in another community for whom they want to create safe spaces. Participants will be enabled to understand the theoretical foundations of safer spaces and collective care as well as to reflect on their own experiences and contexts in order to find out which options for action suit their own group/community.
